Often categorised as a sports-tourer class motorcycle, Suzuki's SV1000 and the half faired SV1000S, were first launched by Suzuki in 2003. The 996 cc 90-degree Suzuki V-twin motorcycles were aimed to compete directly with the Honda SuperHawk (also known as the Honda FireStorm in some markets), which was released prior to the Suzuki, and the low end Ducati 1 litre V-twin engined sport bikes. The SV1000 is the big brother to the popular 650 cc SV650 motorcycle. The SV1000 shares many common parts with the SV650, including all bodywork (front fairing, fuel tank and rear plastics/subframe), but the main frame, handlebars, swingarm and forks are different. The front forks and brakes are sourced from the earlier GSXR600. Well, santa was good to me this year. This is my new harbor freight central pneumatic air compressor. This is what the manual concludes as proper break in procedures, you are supposed to check the compressor head bolts before initial run and after the 10 minute no load pump break in and again every 500 hours. They are supposed to be torqued at 27nm (just about 20ft lb.). I always change the oil in chinese equipment even before the first start up because I don't like their quality of oil and there is usually some metal remnants in the oil if they test run at the factory and just leftover from casting parts. I then put in good quality oil, run it once or twice and change it again to make sure I get all the metal particles out of the case. I shot this over a few days because my health condition really really really limits me for doing anything longer than 15 (or less) minutes at a time. Hopefully that will change very soon. As you can see I got this at christmas and I just got done shooting and uploading video. This looks to be a decent compressor, but won't really be able to test it out until after my surgery and recovery, which won't be till about march at the earliest. I don't work for harbor freight nor central pneumatic, just following the manual and my own take on some things. V-Twin Panhead Ignition: Spark Bore: 1 5/16 in. Stroke: 1 1/2 in. Two Cylinder Four Cycle No Castings Used This engine was scratch built to a scale of 2/5ths or 40% of full size. The bottom end was taken from a drawing of a Knuckelhead engine that I puchased on e-bay. The top end was patterned after photos taken from e-bay of Harley parts for sale. I also bought a Harley repair manual that helped with the oil system. The crankcase was split into three sections instead of the usual two for ease of machining. The ignition is solid state and I use a GM coil which fires the two plugs simultaneously. Timing is advanced and retarded with the timer body. Two rotating magnets fire a Hall effect device at the proper times as per full sized points. The engine is large enough to produce that lovely V-twin sound.
